Piston Rod Precision Machining Process Analysis

Precise piston rods mainly reciprocate during operation. Therefore, in order to prolong their service life and reduce the amount of wear, it is necessary to select a high-quality rough structure. As the production type belongs to batch production, in order to increase production efficiency, the free-forging method is adopted to manufacture the precision piston rod blank.


Considering that in actual use, the precision piston rod needs to withstand the alternating load, especially the sealing device reciprocally rubs its surface, so the place requires high hardness and wear resistance. After the material was selected, the hardness of the core was 28 to 32 HRC, the depth of the surface nitrided layer was 0.2 to 0.3 mm, and the surface hardness was 62 to 65 HRC.


This allows the precision piston rod to maintain a certain degree of toughness and good wear resistance. The structure of the piston rod itself is relatively simple, but its aspect ratio is very large. It belongs to slender shaft parts and has poor rigidity. In order to ensure machining accuracy, the roughing and finishing cars are separated during turning, and both the rough and fine cars use the knives.
