Heat treatment and finishing requirements for hydraulic piston rods

During the machining process, the hydraulic piston rod needs to be finished after the roughing and before the finishing. Usually the heat treatment process includes normalizing treatment, tempering and stress treatment, and quenching and tempering, according to design requirements. The hydraulic piston rod (including the forged round, the head of the combined piston rod, the tail, the shaft) is supplied in a normal state.

 

In actual production, hot-rolled round steel can be used to make hydraulic piston rods, so that the quenching and tempering treatment can be carried out after the blanking. The forged round is roughed, and after the inspection is qualified, the quenching and tempering treatment is carried out. After the combination rod is welded and tested, it can be tempered and destressed. If it is required to be quenched and tempered, it can be directly subjected to quenching and tempering without tempering and stress treatment.

 

It should be noted that in the process of finishing the hydraulic piston rod, considering the influence of some factors, there may be defects such as bumps, abrasions, surface cracks, etc. that do not affect the overall quality, and must be repaired. According to the defect, the argon arc welding or cold welding machine can be used for repair welding, and the outer circle is smooth, the diamond paper is polished or partially repaired by brush plating.
